Marathon Training Week 1

Marathon Training Week 1

The first week of the year signified the beginning of official marathon training for me. I am registered for the New Jersey Marathon on April 29….week 17 of 2018. I started the year running. Literally. My boyfriend and I ran the New York Road Runner’s Midnight Run in Central Park which goes off at the stroke of midnight. It’s was 10 degrees (#yesthatsfahrenheit) but it was a spectacular experience! Complete with fireworks and (frozen) sparkling cider at the fluid stations, I couldn’t think of a better way to start the year. It’s a race that was on my “bucket list” for a long time and I am so glad I finally decided to do it (and even better – that I had someone special to do it with). Read more →

What’s your vision for 2018?

The second half of 2012 marked a comeback for me after herniated disks sidelined me for close to a year. Months of physical therapy gave way to a very patient approach to running again. I gradually increased mileage until I felt comfortable entering a 5k and over the course of the next six months made my way back up to a 10-mile race in early December. All the while I visualized myself as a strong, capable runner, accomplishing each milestone. Read more →

I’ve never been a big fan of New Years resolutions. Most people look at them as an all or nothing proposition and give up on the whole thing when they misstep. It’s why gyms are so crowded in January and not as much so the rest of the year.
