This is the “to be continued” from my April 22 post, “An explanation, not an excuse” as well as the rant about health insurance that I also promised in that post. 

 

Running in Circles and Getting Nowhere (TheCauseCoach, October 2018) outlines the beginning of my health insurance issues since I moved out here. My “low-income” due to minimal effort in building my business in New Jersey as I was preparing for my move last summer (and totally disregarding any income from the sale of my home) left me eligible only for Illinois Medicaid.  I thought I should just be able to “transfer” my health insurance purchased through the ACA from NJ to IL; that can’t be done apparently. It was a beautiful, sunny morning last Saturday for Cinco de Miler, Chicago’s only 5-mile race.  Okay, I was a little chilly at the start and that put a bit of a zap on my head. If you’re wondering why this blog has been so inconsistent in the past couple weeks, it’s because I’m working three jobs – four if you include my own business. Since the promotional and networking part of my business is not time I’m being paid for (including writing this blog), that stuff falls at the bottom of the priority list. Clients and employers are prioritized. While I was eating breakfast this morning my cat (actually my daughter’s cat, but I am its current caretaker), jumped up on the table and started to dig at the plant on the adjacent windowsill. I scolded him and told him to get off. He stopped momentarily. Gave me a look that said, “WTF” and went back to his digging. That, I thought to myself, is the difference between cats and dogs.
