Christmas 1970 I received what was probably one of the greatest gifts I was ever given relevant to its size.  It opened a whole new world for me, one where I could explore who I was as an individual, while learning about the world and a myriad of emotions – both mine and that of others.  A vehicle through which I could find words to express myself, and melodies I could meditate on, or through which I could find pure joy at precisely the right time.

Sixty Weeks to 60: Holiday Traditions

Aside from having a Christmas tree and decorating the house inside and out somewhere between Thanksgiving and mid-December, I haven’t had any traditions for this time of year that have stuck. No special dishes carried down from when I was a kid, nor consistency in who’s gathered around the table. Any tradition I’ve tried to start has been short-lived.

It’s odd how defensive people get about lifestyle choices. I’m about 90% vegan (100% vegetarian).  Kurt is too, which is good because if he wasn’t that would make the Thanksgiving menu more of a challenge. Most people aren’t on board for a meatless Thanksgiving. We host and provide something for everyone.
